ICAO - FAA CONVERSION
General Conversions Aircraft
Pilot Licenses issued by third countries will be accepted in accordance with Article 8 of Commission Regulation (EU) No 1178/2011 on Aircrew. According to paragraph 1 of Article 8, the Member State may accept a third-country License, and the associated medical certificate, in accordance with the provisions of Annex III to that Regulation.
For the issue of a Part-FCL License, the holder of at least an equivalent third-country License issued in accordance with ICAO Annex 1 shall comply with all the relevant requirements of Annex I to that Regulation (Part-FCL), except that the requirements of course duration, number of lessons and specific training hours may be reduced.
The competent authority of the Member State to which an applicant applies will determine the conversion requirements, which can be reduced on the basis of a recommendation from an Approved Training Organisation (ATO)
Therefore, the national aviation authority of the Member State where an applicant resides or wishes to work should be contacted for further information concerning the applicable acceptance requirements.
Your license will be issued by the same EASA Member State which issues your Class One EASA Medical Certificate.
In contrast, you may do your ground and flight training and tests in a combination of EASA Member States.
There are some differences between ICAO States' medical requirements, so it makes sense to start with a Class One medical before committing time and money to your training
Logging of Flight Hours gained in the USA Some flight hour recording practices allowable in the USA do not comply with European requirements.
2 pilots flying together in a single pilot aircraft both claiming P1 hours;
One pilot accompanying another on newsgathering or traffic control flights and claiming P1/PIC when they have not acted as Captain or signed for the aircraft.
Flying hours of this nature cannot be credited towards the requirements for Part-FCL
