IRI INSTRUMENT RATING INSTRUCTOR

IRI General
The IRI Flight Instructor rating is for pilots that has extensive experience in IFR flying ; i.e pilots that has working as professional commercial pilots, and now want to do instruction to pilots for the IR rating.
Pilots with the required experience does not need to do a full Flight Instructor Course. On the other hand ; the ; Instrument Rating Instructor can only teach for the Instrument Rating.
The Instrument Rating Instructor (IRI) airplanes certificate allows the holder to instruct for the IR on single pilot SEP airplanes. To be able to teach the IR on a SP ME aero plane the IRI must comply with FCL.915.CRI(a)
General flight experience
(1) 500 hours flight time as a pilot on airplanes
(2) 30 hours as PIC on the applicable class or type of airplane
Applicants for further instructor certificates may be credited with the teaching and learning skills already demonstrated for the instructor certificate held
Pre-Course Entry Requirements
An applicant for an IRI(A) certificate shall:
(a) hold at least the license and the rating for which flight instruction is to be given
(b) be entitled to act as PIC on the aircraft during flight instruction
(c) have completed at least 800 hours of flight time under IFR, of which at least 400 hours shall be in airplanes
Ground Training
35 hours of ground tuition including 25 hours of teaching and learning and 10 hours of technical training including revision of instrument theoretical knowledge, the preparation of lesson plans and the development of classroom instructional skills
During the course the student instructor will practice giving ground lessons to the FIC instructor giving the course
The training shall be integrated with the flight training so that the maximum benefit is gained from time spent in the air
Flight Training
At least 10 hours of flight instruction on an airplane, FFS, FTD 2/3 or FPNT II
